Ulysses in Sandymount Tour
June 22 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm| €16
‘Am I walking into eternity along Sandymount strand?’
This new walking tour offers Joyceans an opportunity to get outside the city & explore the area around Sandymount Strand that Joyce returns to in three episodes of Ulysses. Travelling by train from the city centre, the tour takes in Newbridge Avenue (Paddy Dignam’s home in the ‘Hades’ episode), the Star of the Sea Church & Leahy’s Terrace (‘Nausicaa’), & Sandymount strand (location for both the ‘Proteus’ & ‘Nausicaa’ episodes). It’ll also take in Shelbourne Road (where Joyce was renting rooms during the summer of 1904), Dromard Terrace (where Joyce stayed on the night of 16 June 1904), & the birthplace of WB Yeats.
The tour starts from the Joyce Centre & finishes at Connolly Station. The total walking distance is about 4km & the tour will last between 3 – 3½ hours but please note: the duration may vary as we’ll be dependent on public transport.
Tour includes the cost of return train journey.
