Ireland on Stage & Screen – Autumn/ Winter 12 Week Course

Join us at the James Joyce Centre this Autumn/ Winter for a 12-week course that will investigate iconic representations of Ireland on stage and screen. Commencing September 27th, participants will experience, analyse, and discuss the multifaceted themes and issues addressed by authors, directors, playwrights and screenwriters, including Brendan Behan, Sean O’Casey, James Joyce, Sebastian Barry, Jim Sheridan, Ken Loach, Pat Murphy, Brian Friel, Marina Carr, Patrick McCabe, John Michael McDonagh and others.
The course will be led by scholar, teacher and Dubliner Dr. Caroline Elbay, who recently received her PhD from Queen’s University Belfast. On top of seminar style discussions, the course will include a visit to Dermot Bolger’s adaptation of Ulysses at the Abbey Theatre as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival on October 11th (optional extra) and a number of guest appearances from the world of Irish film and theatre.
