Culture Night is an annual all-island public event that celebrates culture, creativity and the arts. This year, it will take place on Friday 20th September 2019. On Culture Night, arts and cultural organisations and venues of all shapes and sizes, including the James Joyce Centre, extend their opening hours to allow for increased access to the public. Special and unique events and workshops are specifically programmed at participating locations and everything is available free of charge.
Get closer to one of Ireland’s greatest modern writers. Read the opening episode of Ulysses at 4-6pm. Join an “Introducing James Joyce” talk and walking tour at 5.30pm & 7.00pm. Enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the Centre, complete with readings from Joyce’s works, at 5.15pm, 6.15pm, 7.15pm, & 9.15pm. Experience “Songs of Joyce” performed by delightful sirens Sinead Murphy and Darina Gallagher at 8pm.
